The Short Story Fiero Code Competition 2024

The third and final Fiero Code Challenge, "The Short Story", is the perfect opportunity for young coders, ages 8 to 18, to tap into their creativity and expand their technical skills by crafting a virtual story using code.

Starting on 1 October, this coding competition encourages participants to tell their stories in a unique way — by using coding to bring their imaginative narratives to life.

  • This competition is for young persons aged 8 to 18 only.
  • Registration is free for any students accessing Fiero Code through our Upper Hutt Libraries website. 
  • This competition runs from 1 October to 30 November 2024. 
How it works
  1. Login or sign up: Login to your Fiero Code account or sign up for a Fiero Code account for free through our website if you don't have an account. 
  2. Register: Once you are login to Fiero Code, navigate to the Challenge screen to see prizes and join the competition from the Challenge page.
  3. Create: Embark on your coding adventure and build a choose-your-own-adventure game.
  4. Submit: Showcase your creation and compete for fantastic prizes!

 

Criteria for judging

Projects are graded on:

  • Completion of the project requirements
  • Creativity
  • Difficulty

 


What is Fiero Code?

Fiero Code is a learn-to-code software for kids ages 8-18. Fiero Code teaches the skills necessary to make websites, apps, programs, animations, and video games. Fiero offers a gamified learning experience ― as you progress through the activities, you’ll earn clothes and accessories for your personal avatar.

Why Fiero Code?

  • Fiero Code is the only learn-to-code software that includes content for Makey Makeys, Raspberry Pis, Sphero robots, and Ozobot robots. 
  • They run world-wide coding competitions throughout the year where students compete to win codeable robots, drones, and other awesome prizes.
