Published on 29 January 2025
Following the success of our free digital learning classes in 2024, we are excited to host another round of in-person courses at our Central Library this year.
Email, apps, mobile devices. From online banking to identifying scams and phishing tactics, our Better Digital Futures courses are the perfect way to step into using the internet with confidence.

What is Better Digital Futures?
Better Digital Futures classes are designed specifically for older adults and seniors (ages 65 plus) who would like to build their confidence using the internet and online services.
We are delivering the courses in partnership with the Digital Inclusion Alliance Aotearoa (DIAA).
What can participants expect from the course?
- a small, in-person class at Central Library hosted by Upper Hutt Libraries staff
- hands-on practice using digital devices with step-by-step help and support
- takeaway printed resources to revise and continue learning at home
We encourage participants to bring their own mobile device. If you don’t have one, you can borrow a Library Chromebook for free during each class.
Let's connect, learn, and stay safe online
Digital technology has gifted us the opportunity to stay connected with family, whānau, and friends across the country and overseas.
Better Digital Futures is here to provide a space to learn practical skills you can use every day – from staying in touch with the important people in your life to catching up on the news or ordering your groceries online.
