On the move: our biographies join the general nonfiction collection

On Monday, 3 March 2025, we will start work on interfiling our biographies collection with the main adult nonfiction collection at Central Library.

How will the collection move happen?

• Our team will interfile the biographies in a staged approach, working their way through different subject areas and adjusting space on the shelves as needed.

• During this time, customers will continue to have full access to both the biographies and general adult nonfiction collections.

• As we transition the biographies from their old shelves, we will move the rest of the collection along for an even distribution of titles. Customers will notice that books may have moved a few shelves over from where they were previously.

• While we work on the collection change, there will be several book trolleys stationed across the main adult nonfiction. They will allow our team to manage the interfiling process alongside returned items. Please take extra care while moving between shelves during this time.

Biographies will continue to have red BIO stickers on the spine which make them easy and quick to find in the collection.

We are looking forward to improved access to and visibility of the biographies collection for our customers. As a result, our nonfiction collection will be refreshed with more choice and a variety of content which complements subject areas very well.
