Holds After 26 April
When the Central Library building was closed we waived the $1 hold fee for all of our titles, across all of our branches, in order to make our collections as accessible as possible.
With the opening of the pop-up Library on the 26 of April we hope that all of our new and popular items will once again be accessible for browsing, so only some holds will remain free of charge:
Hold fees will be reinstated for any items picked up (regardless of when the hold was placed) after 26 April, with the exception of items still held in the central Library.
Items that still have the hold fee waived will have the following text displayed next to them in the Library catalogue: “Held offsite – can be requested free of charge”
Remember, you can always cancel holds by visiting your account in the catalogue, or talking to a Librarian.
Not sure what holds are? Imagine if you had slaves whose sole purpose in life was to go find you the books you wanted and then cart them to the Library branch that you deign to pick your books up from. Now imagine if those slaves were not called ‘slaves’, but ‘librarians’. That’s what holds are!
Most holds placed this week will arrive for pick up before the 26 April, so it’s not too late to try it out for free. The most recent newsletter has a step-by-step tutorial on placing holds, check it out here: https://issuu.com/uhlibrary/docs/201804_april_newsletter_web/6
