Celebrate Poetry Month
Monday 4 July to Sunday 14 August
Upper Hutt City Library’s annual poetry competition returns in 2016 as the city turns 50 years old – that’s our golden anniversary! Celebrate with us by writing a poem based on the theme of GOLD.
Go wild with the theme and embrace the mundane (your last visit to the golden arches), the extraordinary (the golden shimmer of an engagement ring) or perhaps an adventure (the golden sands of the Sierra). The only limit is your imagination!
The competition runs 4 July to 14 August, 2016.
There are three entry categories: Children (up to 12 years), Youth (13—18 years), Adult (over 18 years)
For an entry form and further details pick up a booklet from your local library.
Rich, luscious, compelling, exotic, deep, warm, changeable, pale, frivolous, comforting, melancholic, playful, saddening and heart-warming. Where does gold take you? It is the fabric of our lives and the measure of our emotions. What is your secret, your memory, your celebration? What is your story?
